@Stockmaster21 lunging a unbroke horse with one lien or no line teaches can ruin a nice horse. it will enforce bad behavior such as bucking or rushing or acting up.

ok my horse doesn”t want to run to lunge it just wants to face up and come up to me, but when i try to ride it faster then a walk it bucks and goes nuts, how do i teach it to lunge without whipping it??????

    good for you

    I train Thoroughbreds and Warmbloods

  5. almaloveschrome says:

well if the horse is almost 18.3 hands you kinda need some control

  6. OKJumperGirl says:

The bars are the sides of the mouth and if the bit tears the skin there it is irreparable. Then you won’t be able to control your horse at all. alternatively you can leave the halter on under the bridle and then attach the snap to the rings on the halter that way they still feel the pressure on the bit but its less likely to hurt them. I train yearlings and I’ve never had control problems in this manner. All my horses have soft mouths as a result and I barely touch their faces and get results.

  7. almaloveschrome says:

well some horses need to use a bridel :)

  8. almaloveschrome says:

okay what are you taking about that the bit catches the bars. a horse should always have a proper equitment so you have control and so the horse wont get hurt..

  9. almaloveschrome says:

why not it give you more control…

i would never use a bridle when lunging. i use a halter. and this video was really short. i thought they were actually going to show her lunging her horse.

I always lunge in a bridle and its personally for me better then using a halter you have more control and chances of them getting hurt when the spook is they same as if you were using a halter or riding them

  12. KissesInnThRain says:

i lunge in a caveson with a bridle underneath so although nothing is attatched to the bit there is still a bit in the horses mouth.

  13. OKJumperGirl says:

i would never lunge my horse in a bridle! That is very dangerous! If the bit catches the bars it could damage the skin there and that’s skin that is not reparable. Very bad idea.

  14. BTownzBoss08 says:

Yes I agree. I do to.

  15. perfectworld321 says:

    same when im not riding

  16. vigneault67 says:

I lunge my horse with a halter because if he/she were to ever be scared or spook they would get a very bad jab in teh mouth from the bridle and if the bit was agressive you could rip they’re lip.

  17. texasroughneck88 says:

that’s how i lunge my horse with a halter.

  18. adreamhorse says:

Everyone ive even known (and ive known a lot of people) have always lunged in a halter.

  19. investaleaguer says:

    no they don’t

  20. ponytastic2 says:

Wouldn’t it have been a better idea to have lunged the example horse in a bridle? Most people lunge in bridles.
