riding my horse CR bareback with no bridle

This is my horse CR. I adopted him from the school I went to. He was a lesson horse there, but just got majorly burned out on the program and started to have some behavioral issues. It’s taken some training, but he’s not the horse he used to be. He’s changed a lot – he’s a lot more gentle and quiet than he used to be. I’ve gotten him to the point where I can ride him with no saddle or bridle, not even a leadrope, and he listens to my voice, seat, and leg commands. He also listens to voice commands from the ground. I’ve still got some work to do with him but he’s a far cry from the horse he used to be all those months ago. Negative and inappropriate comments will not be tolerated.

this is great! you are an amazing horse person! from your description, it sounds like youve brought him a long way! Amber7Wolves is right, he probably learned to be that way. You guys have an awesome bond! There is no reason for negative comments. anyone who leaves one doesn’t know horsemanship to well!

well done!I want to try this when my schools dried up and i find a way of blocking off the botom of the gate so my horse doesnt go underneath as she is only 13 hands and arabian so ahe gets under anything.

You love that guy of yours I bet. Great relationship between you two. I’m working on doing this with my Arabian Mare and I’m now bitless and bareback with very little contact on her mouth. She’s beginning to get it. Horses are incredibly sensitive and intelligent creatures.

good job trainng!! what methods do you use?

  12. LadyJessicaLauren says:

You have done an amazing job, this kind of training isintensive and sometimes two steps back to get three steps forward, it admriable and you have done fantasic. Sit a little further forward, keep your hip and wow what horse and rider! :D you two will be the best of friends!

Wow,thats something special.I want to do this when I’m older.I’m going to be a vet,and right now I’m 12,so when I’m 18,most of the abused and neglected horses will find a loving home with me.

  14. babsfocker says:

just a little more on his withers, you are a great rider, It’s really nice to see a male rider, ride correctly and gentle, usually male riders from the cowboy world like to show off, and hurt the horses mouth.keep up the good work

  15. Amber7Wolves says:

Pretty good, probably 99% of the time its a rider fault. He probably learned to be unpredictable from another rider. Yeah I started this too with my BUDDY I prefer to say I do not own a living thing. Yes good for a natural begginer at this stage.

  16. memubb1 says:

u neeed to sit further forward!

    thanks!
it definitely took a lot of hard work and patience. but I believe that any horse with the right amount of time, patience, and understanding has the potential to do great things, and there is no such thing as a truly “mean horse.” it’s all a matter of how well one can work with a particular horse. I’ve found often that if people don’t understand how to properly read a horse, it’s often reflected in how the horse performs for that person.
